Studio 5 : Jennifer Dale Judd I am a country girl to the core and feel blessed to have spent most of my life on farms in and around Shawville, surrounded by nature and animals. I was raised in a home where ingenuity and inventiveness was cultivated, where walls were adorned with handiwork and art and I was taught to do anything creative. There was always a plethora of craft and art supplies on hand which I put to use. My downtime was spent imagining, inventing and dreaming of becoming a real artist, all the while drowning myself and others in innumerable “masterpieces”. I completed a fine arts program in college then set out on life’s journey always searching for artistic outlets in whatever way I could. Recently, my primary and most challenging occupation has been raising four terrific children, a job that’s long from done! I’m thankful to be able to practice my art in and around my home surrounded by them. I receive inspiration and encouragement from them and hope I’m fostering the importance of original expression and seeing depth and beauty in everyday, ordinary things always. The livestock, flowers and scenes which surround me are my primary subjects. I love recreating the multitude of colours I see in everything, it is the most challenging and rewarding part of the creative process and brings brilliance and life to the canvas. I work in acrylic and watercolour but consider myself a student who is just beginning a long and fun journey to explore where the artistic process will take me. What an adventure it will be!
