studio 7 : kathleen ranger Kay's interest in art led her to take many courses through weekend workshops and evening classes. She was fortunate to study under well-known local artists; and, her art has been fostered as well by classes with international watercolor and acrylic artists, from Canada and the United States. She finds that opportunities for learning, meeting other like-minded individuals and gaining exposure, are through artist-run organizations. She is a member of several artists' groups including Pontiac Artists' Association. Her paintings are in private collections in Canada and in the United States. Her love of nature is expressed through her paintings and her main desire is to portray the colors and textures of life around her. She has a home studio where she likes to experiment, to explore the possibilities of both the subject and medium, using watercolors and acrylics to sharpen her creative instincts. Her studio " Secret Gardens" is open all year by appointment and for the 2nd and 3rd weekends in June during the annual Pontiac Artists' Studio Tour. She shows her work at local venues as well as in group shows at The Ottawa Tulip Festival, Ottawa, On; Casino du Lac Lemay, Gatineau, Qc; Dow's Lake Pavillion, Ottawa, On; Victoria Hall, Pembroke, On; Recess Café, Renfrew On.
